11:30 am - I needed to know what wand to use...
|
Your Score: 11", Ash, Phoenix You scored 31 wisdom, 44 bravery, 15 emotional, and 22 martyrdom! An ash wand signifies growth, balance, and protection. The phoenix tail feather as your core means that you have the capability to be an extremely powerful wizard or witch and that you will defend those you love at all costs.

9:45 am - Flickr
|

Hello All,
You will probably see this post as a result of looking at someone else's friends page. That's ok, I'm counting on that!
I am attempting to reach 1000 views of a photo I've posted on my flickr.com page. This is a personal quest for me. Yes, it is shameless self promotion. But hey, I'm 52 years old... how many thrills will I get from now on? I'm not going to hit the lottery; they don't have one in Mississippi. So help an old lady feel good. Click on my page. Leave a message, if you have a flickr account. If you don't, get one, they're free. Just go to the home page on flickr.com. Anyway, as of this moment, I have 842 views of my photo - I only need 158 more!!! Please, give, it won't cost you a penny (that's MUCH cheaper than anybody else's charity out there!!!), only a few seconds of your time. If you have more than a few seconds, then go back again, a little later. That's right; run those numbers up! I won't be sorry that you did, and neither will you!
My name is mamarayne, aka lrayholly, aka chrismaverick's mom and I approve this message.

1:08 pm - and I thought Elizabeth Smart was slow...
|
Somebody explain this to me please. How can a young woman/girl of 14 be abducted and held for 10 years only 2 miles from her Dad's house? 10 years?! As Dave Chappelle said about Ms. Smart, she was close enough to jump on a city bus back home. This woman was close enough to WALK! For 10 YEARS! I just don't get it. I guess there are plenty of people in this world with low self esteem, but damn.

5:44 pm - Crap
|
I don't know when I've been this bored or depressed. I am a Mississippi prisoner. I worked my whole life to end up unemployed, overworked and hopeless. This seemed like such a good idea about 6 months ago. I know I came here for the right reasons, but now they don't seem so “right”. Somebody needs to tell me a funny, funny joke or give me a hug. If that's not possible, how about wiring me a very large sum of money. I'm SURE that would do wonders to brighten my mood.
current mood: depressed current music: not in the mood; probably would pick something depressing anyway

It's a sad day in my political life. Father Guido will not be on the ballot afterall. Apparently, unscrupulous infiltrators have sabotaged his petition! Drat!

1:51 pm - Finally! Candidates worthy of the governorship...
|
This morning's news gives me the me candidates I'd be willing to cross the border to campaign for. The New York Times has released a listing of the only really viable entries in the California governor's race.
I had considered Terry Tate, but he may be just a little too physical. I have settled on Father Guido Sarducci. Not only is he a man of peace but he hails from Lorain, OH. He's got to be a good guy!

|
Why do so many dumb ass people come from OH & PA? I swear, the other day it was the girl who got caught smuggling marijuana to her jailed boyfriend under the stamps of her letters...she btw was from Lorain County no less. Now this story of the Moronic Mother!

Note to chrismaverick: I watched Ebert and Roeper last night. Comments on Johnny Depp...Ebert (thumbs up) "It was as if he were channeling a swashbuckling Drag Queen"...Roeper (thumbs down) "What a brave thing he did...he stepped off a float at the Judy Garland parade".

10:08 am - Friday Five
|
Wow! I haven't posted in a while, so the Friday Five seemed like a good time to get back in:
1. Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it? Yes, Sherry Jones, we were inseparable.
2. Are you still in touch with this person? We talk several times a week; even though we live 1100 miles apart.
3. Do you have a current close friend? Still the same person.
4. How did you become friends with this person? I was "the new kid" in the 2nd grade; in the 5th grade, poor Sherry was the one. I didn't want her to feel the way I had, so I introduced myself and we've been friends ever since.
5. Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why? Actually it's a cousin that disappeared about 7 years ago. I think something happened within the family that ostracized her and I want her to know that she is still loved and missed.

1:24 pm - I cut open my brain...
|
I was facinated by the test results in chrismaverick's journal, so I decided to take the test myself. It seems that I too am missing 1% of my brain! hmmm could this be a genetic problem?
Auditory: 56% Visual: 43% Left: 57% Right: 42%
MamaRayne, you are mildly left-hemisphere dominant while showing a slight preference for auditory processing. This overall combination seems to indicate a well-working blend of logic and judgment and organization, with sufficient intuition, perception and creativity to balance that dominance.
You will at times experience conflict between how you feel and what you think which will generally be resolved in favor of what you think. You will find yourself interested in the practical applications of whatever material you have learned or whatever situation you face and will retain the ability to refine whatever knowledge you possess or aspects of whatever position you are in.
By and large, you will orient yourself toward intellectual activities and structure. Though not rigid, you will schedule yourself, plan, and focus on routine and continuity of operations, rather than on changes and disruptions
When changes or disruptions occur, you are likely to consider first how to ensure that such disruptions do The same balance is reflected in your sensory preference. You will tend to be reflective and measured in your interaction style. For the most part, you will be considered objective without being cold and goal-oriented while retaining the capacity to listen to others.
Preferentially you learn by listening and maintaining significant internal dialogues with yourself. Nevertheless, you have sufficient visualization capabilities to benefit from using graphs, charts, doodles, or even body movement to enhance your comprehension and memory.
To the extent that you are even implicitly aware of your hemispheric dominance and sensory style, you will feel most comfortable in those arenas which emphasize verbal skills and logic. Teaching, law, and science are those that stand out among the professions, along with technical sales and management.

3:24 pm - Luther News!

I just read this article about Luther Vandross, attributed to Associated Press information. This is really good news; I hope it's not later recanted. The only other story I've seen about him today is that his new album has been released.
